What is Colonic Irrigation?
Colonic Hydrotherapy has been practiced for thousands of years by Egyptian, Greek, Chinese and Indian civilisations. Colonic Irrigation (or Colon Hydrotherapy, Colonic, Colon Cleansing) is a procedure that introduces a gentle and safe infusion of warm, purified, filtered water into the large intestine (colon) to flush accumulated faecal waste, harmful bacteria, toxins, gas and mucous from the colon. It is safe and gentle, yet a very effective detoxifying treatment to cleanse the body and reactivate the waste systems.
The soothing effect of introducing warm filtered water gently into the colon via the rectum assists in expelling the contents of the lower bowel during your session. The flow and temperature of the warm filtered water is regulated by Helen, the advanced qualified colon hydro-therapist throughout your treatment.
Why should I have Colonic Hydrotherapy?
An individual can carry 1kg-10kg (6 – 8lbs.) of old faecal matter in their colon. A healthy colon is essential to a healthy body.
Modern dietary habits and fast-paced lifestyles lead to eating refined and processed foods that are high in saturated fats and low in natural fibre, which all contribute to a multitude of bowel disorders and subsequent health problems.
Poor elimination of waste products from the body can add up to a toxic environment within the bowel. A toxic environment can contribute to a large number of toxic related health problems, both physical and emotional. Some people say your gut is your second brain, which makes sense when you think of the knock-on effect that an ill performing digestive system must have on your moods.
Think about trying to have a clean and happy home but with blocked drains and the bin men on strike, so no rubbish collection! The more you ignore the problem, the bigger the problem becomes and soon you end up with a giant mess!
What can happen to your body if you choose not to have Colonic Hydrotherapy?
Brace yourself! Firstly the stagnant waste matter within the body becomes putrefied and releases toxins into the colon, which then can seep through the walls of the colon into the blood stream. This puts a strain on the whole body’s integrity including the immune system and internal organs, such as the liver and kidneys making us feel tired, ill and weak.
This means the colon’s ability to assimilate vital vitamins and minerals becomes impaired, leading to the muscular activity of the colon being reduced significantly, which can cause constipation and bowel disorders.
There’s an easy solution though. Courses of colon hydrotherapy, quickly, effectively and safely assist the body in expelling large quantities of old, toxic faecal matter and other waste materials from the body, greatly enhancing the condition of the entire body, leading to a healthier well-being and better quality of life.
Is colon hydrotherapy different to enemas?
Enemas are good to clean out the sigmoid and rectal areas of the colon, which extend to about 1ft. A series of colon-hydrotherapy treatments can clean out and remove impacted material from the whole colon which is around 5 1/2 foot long. Additionally, colon hydrotherapy promotes peristalsis (a movement of the bowel) and helps the colon muscles regain natural tone, therefore assisting the return of regular bowel movements.
