Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful festive season, filled with joy and health. As we leave the holidays behind, we’re back to helping our clients reset, detox, and adopt healthier habits for the year ahead.

The extreme weather makes me excited for lighter nights and sunshine—spring feels just around the corner! But first, let me share an incredible experience that deepened my appreciation for the human body: my recent dissection training at St Guys Hospital.

Dissecting the digestive system reminded me how truly amazing our bodies are. The liver, for instance, is a powerhouse—it weighs up to 4lbs in men (slightly less in women) and is about 15cm wide. Seeing the digestive tract firsthand, from the narrow yet lengthy small intestine to the massive liver, was awe-inspiring. It’s one thing to read about it in textbooks, but another to physically see how our organs are compactly arranged and interconnected.  This month’s blog is all about the Liver and coffee enemas; please see attached.

What struck me most were the intricate details: the portal veins linking organs, the fascia and fat surrounding the intestines, and even the visible effects of pollution on the lungs. I even observed some fascinating conditions, like “mega colon” and potential hypermobility of the colon. It was a five-hour session that flew by, leaving me with a deeper understanding of the human engine I work with every day.

This experience emphasised how vital it is to treat our bodies well. Think of your body as a vehicle—you wouldn’t neglect oil changes, clean water for your windscreen, or regular MOTs. Similarly, we need to provide our bodies with the right fuel, maintenance, and care. As a registered colonic hydrotherapist with ARCH, I take this principle seriously, applying my years of training to provide the best care possible at Complete Health Clinic. Your investment in our services reflects not just time but expertise and dedication to your health.

Beyond the science, I believe in a holistic approach to wellness. The body isn’t just a collection of organs; it’s an interconnected system where physical, mental, and emotional health align. Practices like sound baths remind us to care for the mind and spirit as much as the body. My next sound bath session is at the Lowry Hotel on January 23rd, and I look forward to this time of balance and renewal.

On a lighter note, I recently enjoyed a trip to London, where I indulged in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and dinner at Rules, the city’s oldest restaurant. Moments like these—balancing work, rest, and play—remind me of the importance of nurturing all aspects of life.

As we move through 2025, let’s prioritise treating our bodies with the respect and care they deserve. They truly are the most phenomenal machines, capable of far more than we often realise.
