Dear Colonics Queen,

I can’t believe it! Today I stood on the scales and thought OMG are they lying…?!! I’m sure they must be broken, as I can’t weigh that much…. But if I do, how did this happen? I want to scream, or cry (or both) and am currently lying in a heap on the bathroom floor! I can’t start a diet, as I can never keep it up – I’m always starving!

HELP! Is there a way to lose weight without dieting? Desperately seeking advice!

Mrs O. V. Waite.

Hey there Mrs. O. V. Waite! I totally feel you! Losing weight can be such a struggle, especially when you love food as much as I do. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with some easy tips to help you shed those pounds without going on a strict diet.

So, let me tell you a story. Last Christmas, I had a wake-up call about my bad eating habits, and it made me realize that I needed to make some changes. I mean, who wants to be a victim of the “moment on the lips, lifetime on the hips” situation? Not me, that’s for sure!

But fear not, my friend, because I’ve got some super simple tips that will become second nature to you in no time. Let’s get started!

Tip number one: serve veggies first! You know how the government says we should eat up to 10 portions of fruits and vegetables to stay healthy? Well, they’re not kidding. By eating your veggies first, you’ll fill up on all the good stuff and leave less room for those sneaky snacks.

Tip number two: use a smaller plate (around 9-10 inches is plenty for anyone!). It’s a psychological fact that we make inaccurate estimates of serving sizes depending on the size of the plate our food is served on. So, if we use a smaller plate, we’ll eat less. Easy peasy, right?

Tip number three: sit at a table with no distractions. You’ll eat more if you’re distracted, up to 25% more! So, switch off the TV and put down your phone, we want you to savour every bite! And by sitting at a table, you’ll make it more difficult to keep topping up your plate with more food. Portion control for the win!

Tip number four: drink a pint of water 30 minutes before every meal. This will help fill you up, so you’re less likely to overindulge. Plus, you’ll get the added bonus of better skin and more energy. Who doesn’t want that?

Tip number five: Slow down tiger, chew your food! Seriously, guys, I can’t stress this enough. Some of my clients must literally hoover their food as I see chunks of undigested food coming out of people! Chew at least 20 times before swallowing. By doing so, you’ll allow more time for your stomach to receive the messages from your brain that you’re full, meaning you’ll eat less before feeling stuffed.

Tip number six: Plan your meals and shopping. Don’t leave your meals to chance. Plan ahead and make a shopping list of healthy options. No more “I have nothing to eat, so I’ll just order takeout.” No more takeaways for you, my friend! Not to mention, you’ll save money and reduce food waste. That’s what we call a win-win-win.

So, there you have it, my dear Mrs. O.V. Waite. Losing weight doesn’t have to be a drag. With these tips, you’ll be on your way to a healthier and happier you.

And who knows, maybe you’ll even inspire others to follow suit. Let’s get this weight-loss party started!
